Forest bathing is a practice of therapeutic relaxation that involves immersing in the woods and focusing on sensory engagement to connect with nature. It is an effortless and enjoyable way to release stress and anxiety and experience the peace of the forest more deeply.
Developed in Japan in the 1980s as a preventive healthcare practice, forest bathing has an impressive array of documented benefits, including reduced stress, improved sleep, strengthened immune system, lowered blood pressure and heart rate, and greater well-being and happiness.
In this highly experiential session, we'll explore simple practices that help us slow down, open our senses, calm our minds, and be more fully present with nature. We'll discover how forest bathing allows us to get to know the forest and the trees in new ways, experience more peace and wonder, and effortlessly enhance our well-being.
Expect to leave feeling deeply relaxed and restored, with simple practices you can use on your own to receive more profound and lasting benefits from time in nature.
This is a very gentle program—not a vigorous hike. We will walk about half a mile and spend more time sitting than walking. Most of the activities will be done near the creek.
Class meets in the parking lot at the main entrance to Fall Creek. Note that there are no restrooms in this park.
Class size is limited, and advanced registration is required. Those who register will receive more detailed information and directions via email.
