Who We Are

Mountain Parks Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing enriching visitor experiences in two California State Parks in Santa Cruz County, Big Basin Redwoods in Boulder Creek and Henry Cowell Redwoods (including its Fall Creek unit) in Felton. MPF is the only nonprofit dedicated exclusively to supporting Big Basin and Henry Cowell and our philanthropic partnership with California State Parks goes back more than 50 years. Our mission is to inspire the next generation of stewards by connecting people to these iconic state parks and the natural wonders they contain.

Established as a nonprofit organization in 1973, MPF is among the earliest California State Park Cooperating Associations. MPF provides support in the form of funding, staffing, volunteer recruitment and management, retail administration, and public relations. Mountain Parks Foundation is headquartered inside Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park where it maintains offices for its small staff and significant volunteer team.

Message from our Executive Director

We know you love your parks and you want to see them protected. You want to inspire others to protect them, too. Just as redwoods grow strong in circles, we are joining together with a common goal to care for our redwoods state parks and all the living beings who call them home.

No matter where you come from, these magnificent places welcome you and offer a peaceful sanctuary. Our towering redwoods remind us that we are part of a bigger story. They help us see the world in new ways by expanding our perspective, renewing our connection to nature. And they need something from us, too.

Your support is vital to the future of our redwoods state parks. Please help us inspire the next generation of Big Basin and Henry Cowell stewards by becoming a Mountain Parks Foundation member today.

We need you. Your donation directly supports programs that teach people to care about our parks. Our work includes renovating nature museums, caring for cultural treasures, bringing school children to the redwoods, and ongoing educational projects that build stronger connections to the natural world.

Join us by becoming a member and invest in the future of our parks. Your gift will help protect our most treasured places, making a real difference today and for generations to come. There has never been a better time to join together for the future of our parks.

With gratitude,
Brenda Holmes
