Run in the Woods: A Playgroup for Older Women

Free. Led by Pam Neimeth

Join us to experience a moving conversation between you and the natural world through the practice of trail running!

We live in a culture where aging is seen as a disease for which there is no cure. Women “of a certain age” are often told to take it easy, be careful, slow down, don’t even think of starting something new like trail running! Meanwhile, older women are the largest growing group of participants in the trail running world. We now have the time, the energy, the freedom, and the wisdom to get out there.

Running is a powerful way to restore movement, strengthen and combat muscle loss, increase bone health, reduce stress, speed up sluggish metabolism, and improve sleep – to name just a few of the benefits.

This class is for every older woman, particularly women who are thinking, “Oh, I could never do this but I’d sure like to!” Our running group is structured to meet you exactly where you are right now; whether you have never run before or used to run, but it’s been a while, everyone is welcome. Each participant will create their own goals and plans, gradually and carefully building up both pace and endurance.

Run in the Woods is all about support, play and celebration – and it’s FREE. Registration is open to anyone self-identifying as an older woman.

Class size is limited, and advanced registration is required. Those who register will receive more detailed information and directions via email.

NOTE: We request that you check with your personal healthcare provider to discuss any limitations or constraints on your participation before registering. Information provided is meant to supplement rather than replace the diagnostic expertise and medical advice of your personal physician. Please consult with your doctor before making any decisions that affect your health.
